To facilitate a more in-depth understanding of the dynamic process of customer-supplier interaction, information on customer satisfaction is needed for better policy and decision-making on all levels of society:
- Industry and individual company level: for studying company profitability, creation and sustainability of real job opportunities, benchmarking, identification of current best practices, winning of the loyalties of the new economy customers
- National level: for economic policy formulation, analysis of competitiveness, quality analysis and adjustment (including productivity trends)
- European level: to monitor and devise policy instruments focusing (1) on the competitiveness of European industry compared to other economic centres like the US and Southeast Asia and (2) on benchmarking national activity related to e-Government services
